My Reading Commitment This Year: Feeding the Mind and the Soul

Assalamualaykum,

Bismillah. Tahun ini aku ingin lebih intentional dengan hidup. Bukan hanya soal business goals, travel schedule, atau launching produk baru, tapi juga tentang what I feed my mind and soul. Sebagai seorang muslimahpreneur yang sehari-harinya juggling antara bisnis travel haji umroh, wisata halal, modest fashion, healthy drink dan menulis blog, membaca adalah one of my quiet luxuries. A small pause in a busy day, yet powerful enough to realign my heart.

This year, I set a simple but meaningful target: 4 buku untuk dibaca secara konsisten. Sounds simple, right? But for me, it's not about quantity, it's about presence.

Yang pertama tentu saja Al-Qur'an. I know, technically it's not a book, tapi a holy scripture that guides my entire life. Tahun 2024 aku bisa khatam 5 kali dalam setahun. Masya Allah, I was so proud of that. Tapi jujur, tahun 2025 menurun drastis, hanya 2 kali khatam.

Sedih? Iya banget. Karena itulah, tahun ini aku menargetkan minimal 3 kali khatam, dengan doa besar semoga bisa 4 kali atau lebih. Al-Qur'an is not just something to finish, but something to live with. Every Ayah feels like a personal reminder when read with a calm heart.

Buku kedua adalah "Taman Cinta" karya Khalil Gibran. I've loved his works since high school. There's something about his romantic, poetic sentences that feels timeless. Kalimat-kalimatnya sejuk, gentle dan seperti pelukan hangat untuk jiwa yang lelah. When life feels loud, meeting here, deadline there, Gibran reminds me to slow down and feel.

Next is "Why The Rich Are Getting Richer" by Robert T Kiyosaki. This one is more practical, more "business minded". I want to reread and refresh my understanding about business, investing and building income streams. As someone who runs multiple businesses, I believe revisiting fundamental is important. Sometimes we don't need new knowledge, we just need to remember what we already know but forgot to apply.

The fourth book is "Don't Sweet the Small Stuff in Love" by Richard Carlson, Ph.D. and Kristine Carlson. This book gently reminds us not to make small issues a big deal i relationship. As a wife partner, and woman who wears many hats, this book feels like a soft whisper: choose peace, choose understanding.

So how do I stay committed? This is my way:
  1. Read Al-Qur'an after every sholat, minimum 5 ayah. Small but consistent.
  2. Rotate the other three books, so I don't get bored. I pause after an interesting chapter, then move to another book.
  3. Always bring a book in my bag, especially when I know there will be waiting time during trips.
  4. Use cute and meaningful bookmarks. Yess, this matters more than people think.
  5. Journal every morning before work, writing down quotes or insight. It makes me more excited to read and more mindful in journaling.

Bismillah, semoga bisa komitmen. Because reading, for me, is not an escape. It's a return. Back to purpose, faith, and calmer version of myself.
